Kandy, Sri Lanka
Kandy is one of the beautiful city in Central Province in Sri Lanka which is 116 km away from the city of Colombo and takes 3 hours to reach. It also 1674ft above sea level. The temple of the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha is Kandy’s main attraction. You have the opportunity of watching the world famous dramatic religious festival “The Esala Perehera” during the month of July. It consists of many talented group of cultural dancers, Artistes,Drummers and properly trained beautifully dressed hundreds of elephants. Ancient fire tourches are an attractive scene of the pageant.The important places to visit in Kandy are The Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha,Royal Botanical gardens at Peradeniya, Embekke Devale (This is a good example of Architec in wood with dancers , Creepers, Swans , Soldiers on horseback, Floral emblems , Double headed Eagles),Kande Walauwa offers to visitor a first hand experience in the dyeing and weaving of silk into carpets, throw mats and garments),The Gangaramaya temple,Gadaladeniya temple, The Lankatilaka Rajamaha temple, Degaldoruwa temple, St Paul’s church, Monastery at Ampitiya ,Peradeniya University, Rathna Ella falls and Victoriya Reservoir.Two days stay in Kandy good enough to visit all these places.
