Galle is the Capital city of the Southern province in Sri Lanka, which is 116 km away from Colombo and takes 3 hours to reach.This town was badly affected by the T-Sunami in year 2004 and grown greatly up to the international standards today. Ancient Dutch fort is the heart of Galle’s history. Galle city has stood since the early sixteenth century, though the colonial periods of the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Our present times is proclaimed as an Archeological reserve and been identified as a world heritage site. Particular interest in the fort is the Dutch church dedicated in 1754.The” Unawatuna “ and “Hikkaduwa” beach provide safe swimming and snorkling protected as it is by a reef .The Coral reef in Hikkaduwa too, attract the visitors (Coral reefs are known as rainforests of the ocean considering their rich biodiversity and are the breeding grounds of many fish).Popular “Rhumassala “ hill is associated with the legend of the traditional “Ramayana Story”. The visitor may make a pick of Galle lace, hand made like the Brussels or the honiton types. The shops of jewellery would intice the female of the species.The important places in Galle are the ancient Dutch fort , Lighthouse, Harbour, Butterfly bridge, Dutch and Marine museums, Churches and the world famous International Cricket stadium. Kandy, Sri Lanka
Kandy is one of the beautiful city in Central Province in Sri Lanka which is 116 km away from the city of Colombo and takes 3 hours to reach. It also 1674ft above sea level. The temple of the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha is Kandy’s main attraction. You have the opportunity of watching the world famous dramatic religious festival “The Esala Perehera” during the month of July. It consists of many talented group of cultural dancers, Artistes,Drummers and properly trained beautifully dressed hundreds of elephants. Ancient fire tourches are an attractive scene of the pageant.The important places to visit in Kandy are The Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Lord Buddha,Royal Botanical gardens at Peradeniya, Embekke Devale (This is a good example of Architec in wood with dancers , Creepers, Swans , Soldiers on horseback, Floral emblems , Double headed Eagles),Kande Walauwa offers to visitor a first hand experience in the dyeing and weaving of silk into carpets, throw mats and garments),The Gangaramaya temple,Gadaladeniya temple, The Lankatilaka Rajamaha temple, Degaldoruwa temple, St Paul’s church, Monastery at Ampitiya ,Peradeniya University, Rathna Ella falls and Victoriya Reservoir.Two days stay in Kandy good enough to visit all these places. Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka
Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka, which is 250 km away from Colombo and takes six hours to reach. The city of paddy fields is watered by a unique irrigation complex known as the Sea of Parakkrama, covering 5940 acres can irrigate 18,000 acres of rice paddies. This tank causes to the natural beauty of Polonnaruwa. Thuparamaya is the oldest stupa and the best preserved building in the city.
